A brand new aftermarket two position ignition key switch for Kawasaki ATVs built between 1999 and 2014, covering the KFX 450 R sport quad and the KLF 300 Bayou and KVF 300, 360 and 400 Prairie utility machines. It is a direct replacement to your original unit - plug-and-play, a direct fit and easy to install, with a compact 34 by 34 mm body standing 55 mm tall.
The switch works in two positions, off and on, with two wires running through a single plug. Two keys are supplied cut to the new barrel and the mating connector is included, so the harness-side plug can be renewed at the same time if water has got into it. On working quads the ignition switch is a wear point that fails from vibration and moisture rather than mileage, and replacing the complete assembly is the reliable fix rather than trying to clean up corroded internal contacts.

How do I tell whether the old switch has failed?
Classic symptoms are an engine that cuts out over rough ground, an ignition that only makes contact when the key is wiggled or pushed in, and a machine that is dead when the key is turned on despite a good battery. A continuity test across the two terminals in the on position confirms it - no reading, or a reading that flickers as the key is moved, means the switch is finished.
Will the supplied keys match my other locks?
No. The two keys are cut to the new barrel, so any other lock keyed to your original ignition key will still need the old key. Keep it with the machine.
