A brand new aftermarket two-position ignition key switch, supplied as a direct replacement for the original unit fitted to the Kawasaki KVF 400 Prairie and the KLF 300 and KLF 400 Bayou between 1988 and 2005. How do I tell whether my old switch has failed?

Testing continuity across the two switch wires in the off and on positions will confirm whether the switch is still making the circuit.
