A brand new aftermarket two-position ignition key switch, built as a direct replacement for the original unit fitted to Yamaha YFM 400 and YFM 450 Kodiak, YFM 450 Grizzly and YFM 450 Wolverine quads from 2003 to 2014. It is plug-and-play and fits directly in place of the original switch, so the standard harness plugs straight in with no cutting or splicing. Our part number for this unit is RM05004.
The switch runs four wires into four terminals through a single connector and has two positions, off and on. Two keys and the matching connector are supplied in the box. How can I tell my original ignition switch has failed?
Common symptoms are no power at all when the key is turned to on, power that comes and goes as the key or the harness is moved, a key barrel that turns without a positive click between positions, and green or blackened terminals inside the switch connector. Checking continuity across the switch terminals in both the off and on positions will confirm whether current is passing through.
Do I need to keep my old keys?
No. Two new keys are supplied with this switch and they are cut to this barrel. Your original keys will not operate the new switch, so keep the new pair together and store the spare somewhere safe.
