This is a direct aftermarket replacement ignition key switch for the Honda TRX 400 EX Sportrax and the later TRX 400 X. It is a two-position unit, giving a simple off and on selection, and it is built to match the original equipment switch in size, wiring layout and connector so that it drops straight into the standard mounting position on the handlebar cowl without any cutting, splicing or adaptation of the loom.
The ignition switch on a quad lives a hard life. Water, mud, pressure washing and vibration all work their way into the barrel and the contact block behind it, and the usual result is an intermittent start, a machine that cuts out over rough ground, or a key that turns freely without doing anything at all. Replacing the switch as a complete assembly restores a clean, positive contact and removes the guesswork of chasing an intermittent fault around the rest of the wiring.
