2-Position 4-Pin Ignition Key Switch for Polaris
Polaris Magnum 325 / 500, Outlaw 450 / 525, Scrambler 400 - 2000-2011 - OEM replacement 4012163 - Part number RM05020
This is a brand new two position ignition key switch for Polaris Magnum, Outlaw and Scrambler machines, supplied as a direct replacement for the original unit. It is a straightforward off and on switch with four terminals in a single connector, and it is the part that feeds power from the battery into the ignition and accessory circuits when the key is turned. On a machine that has spent years outdoors, this is a common wear item: water finds its way past the key barrel, the internal contacts corrode, and the result is an ATV that starts only when the key is wiggled, or refuses to start at all.
Fitting is plug-and-play. The switch uses the same body dimensions and the same single four terminal plug as the original, so it drops into the existing panel aperture and connects to the loom without cutting, splicing or adapting anything. Two keys are supplied with the switch, which is worth noting on an older machine where the original key has often been lost or worn smooth. Every unit is tested before it is shipped.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will this fit without modification?
Yes. It is a direct fit, plug-and-play replacement using the same four terminal connector as the original switch, so nothing needs to be cut or spliced. Before ordering, compare your original against the dimensions above - 41 mm high, 55 mm long, 41 mm wide - and check that the OEM number on your machine is 4012163 or 4110264.
What is included?
The ignition key switch complete with two keys. The switch is supplied with its own keys, so it does not match your existing key - you will be using the new pair from the point of fitting onwards. Keep the spare somewhere safe rather than on the same ring as the one in use.
How do I know the old key switch has failed?
The classic sign is intermittent power: the dash lights and starter work only when the key is jiggled or held at a particular point, or they cut out over bumps. Others are a key barrel that has become stiff or sloppy to turn, a machine that stays live with the key off, or a complete loss of power to the ignition circuit with a battery that tests good. Corrosion inside the switch body is normally the cause on a machine of this age.
What do the two positions do?
This is a two position switch, Off and On. Turning to On feeds the ignition circuit through the four terminals so the machine can be started and run; turning to Off isolates it again. There is no separate accessory or light position on this unit, which matches the original specification for these Polaris models.
