This is a brand new aftermarket three position ignition key switch, supplied as a direct replacement for the original Arctic Cat unit. The three positions are off, on and lights, so the switch handles the lighting circuit as well as the ignition feed. It fits a broad run of Arctic Cat machines including the Cruiser, MudPro, TRV, H1, Timber Camo, Diesel, Alterra, ThunderCat and XR from 2008 through 2023.
Installation is plug-and-play. The barrel goes into the original mounting hole and the single plug mates with the existing loom connector, so no cutting, splicing or drilling is needed. How do I know my old ignition switch has failed?
Common signs are no power when the key is turned on, lights that only work if the key is held at a certain angle, power that drops out over rough ground, and a worn barrel that lets the key rotate past its detents. Check the battery and the main fuse before condemning the switch.
What does the third position do?
The third detent is the lights position. Turning past on brings the lighting circuit live, which is why this switch is not interchangeable with a two position off and on unit. Count the detents on your original barrel if you are unsure which type you have.
