Stator and Regulator Rectifier Kit for Aprilia RSV and Tuono 1000 R

Aprilia RSV 1000 R and Tuono 1000 R 2004-2009 - Part RMS900-106902

This is a complete charging system solution kit for the 2004-2009 Aprilia RSV 1000 R and Tuono 1000 R, built to address the charging faults these models are known for. Rather than replacing one failed component and leaving the other to cook, the kit pairs a redesigned stator that retains less heat with a CNC machined aluminium MOSFET voltage regulator, so both halves of the circuit are renewed at the same time. Both parts are direct replacements for the original units and install plug-and-play, using the standard mounting points and connectors.

The stator generates the AC current and the regulator rectifier converts it to the DC current the battery and electrics run on, while shedding the surplus as heat. On these Aprilias a regulator that is struggling to dump that heat will steadily cook the stator winding, and a failing stator will in turn overload the regulator, which is why replacing only one of the two so often ends in a repeat failure. The aluminium bodied MOSFET regulator in this kit runs cooler and handles up to 50 A or 500 W, and the harness with the matching connector, the stator cover gasket and the three mounting bolts are all supplied so the job can be finished in one go.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this kit need any modification to fit?

No. Both the stator and the regulator are direct replacements for the original units and install plug-and-play, using the standard mounting points and connectors. The regulator mounts on 80 mm centres and the harness with the matching connector is supplied in the box.

What is included in the box?

The aftermarket stator, the red machined aluminium MOSFET regulator, a harness with the opposite connector, the stator cover gasket, and three M6-1.00 x 30 Allen socket head bolts.

How do I know the charging system has failed?

A battery that will not hold charge, dim or flickering lights and a bike that dies on a longer ride are the usual signs. With a multimeter, the stator winding should read about 0.8 ohms yellow to yellow and the pick-up about 500 ohms green to blue, both within 20 per cent, and a healthy system should show at least 14.5 V at the battery with the engine running. Readings outside those figures, or a burnt smell and discoloured connectors, point to a failed stator, regulator, or both.

Why replace the stator and the regulator together?

Because on these models the two failures are linked. A regulator that cannot shed its heat will slowly cook the stator winding, and a stator that has partly broken down will overload the regulator, so fitting one new part alongside an ageing one frequently ends in a second failure. This kit renews both halves of the circuit at once, with a stator designed to retain less heat and an aluminium bodied MOSFET regulator that runs cooler than the original.
