PeakRPM CDI Box for Polaris Magnum, Ranger, Scrambler and Sportsman
Polaris Magnum 425 / 500, Ranger, Scrambler, Sportsman 335 / 500 - 1995-2004 - OEM replacement 3084691 - Part number RM02061
This is a brand new aftermarket PeakRPM CDI box for Polaris Magnum, Ranger, Scrambler and Sportsman machines, supplied tested and built as a direct replacement for the original ignition control unit. The CDI box governs the whole capacitor discharge ignition system: it takes the charge produced by the stator, stores it, and discharges it into the ignition coil at the correct point in the engine cycle. Everything from cold starting to how cleanly the engine pulls under load depends on that timing being right, which is why a tired CDI shows up as hard starting, misfiring and cutting out rather than as one clean failure.
The unit is a plug-and-play OEM design, so it mounts in the original location and connects through the existing connectors with no cutting or splicing of the loom. OEM-grade electronic components and printed circuit boards are used throughout for long-term reliability, and dielectric connector grease is included so the plugs can be sealed against water and corrosion as the unit goes in. This is a worthwhile step on a working quad or utility machine, where mud and pressure washing are usually what finish off an ignition connector.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will this fit without modification?
Yes. It is a plug-and-play OEM design that uses the original mounting position and the original connectors, so no cutting, splicing or rewiring is required. Check your original unit against the figures above - 70 mm high, 23 mm long, 38 mm wide, five plugs and eight pins - and against the OEM numbers listed in the cross reference table.
What is included?
The CDI box and a sachet of dielectric connector grease. Working the grease into the connectors as you fit the unit keeps moisture out of the pins and helps prevent the corrosion that causes intermittent ignition faults on machines that spend their life in mud and water.
How do I know the old CDI has failed?
CDI failure is usually intermittent. Typical signs are an engine that cranks strongly but will not fire despite a healthy battery, coil and spark plug, a machine that runs until it gets hot and then dies, a stumble or misfire that appears under load, or a rev ceiling that has dropped noticeably. Since a failing stator or a corroded connector can produce the same symptoms, inspect the wiring and the plugs before replacing the box.
My Polaris carries a different OEM number to the one in the title. Will it still fit?
This unit supersedes several Polaris part numbers across the range, listed in full in the cross reference table above: 3084691, 3085382, 3085564, 3085639 and 3086982. If the number stamped on your original unit appears in that list, this is the correct replacement. If it does not appear there, contact our technical team before ordering rather than fitting on a guess.
