This is the RMSTATOR red machined aluminium MOSFET voltage regulator, part number RMS022-105928, designed for powersports charging systems on Arctic Cat, Can-Am, Ski-Doo, Yamaha, Kawasaki and Honda machines across the 1994 to 2026 model years. The headline benefit is heat dissipation: after ten minutes of use, the billet aluminium heatsink runs 33 per cent cooler than a standard cast regulator housing. Heat is what kills regulators, so a cooler-running housing is the single most useful upgrade you can make to a charging system that has already failed once.
It is a direct replacement with plug-and-play installation, built from higher grade electrical components, with an improved heat sink design and quality that exceeds the OEM equipment. Every unit is factory tested before shipping, and the opposite connector is included in the box because the original harness-side plug is so often the real fault. The unit uses two plugs and five pins in a square 103 mm by 103 mm body, 28 mm high, with 80 mm between the fixation hole centres. Is this a straight swap for my original regulator?
For the great majority of applications, yes - it is a direct replacement with plug-and-play installation, using two plugs and five pins with 80 mm fixation hole spacing. The one exception noted by the manufacturer is the 2006-2007 Can-Am Outlander 400, which needs wire splicing and connector conversion.
What is included in the box?
The voltage regulator itself plus the additional mating connector, the plug that goes on the main harness side. That connector is supplied because the original is a common failure point.
How do I know the old regulator has failed?
Charging voltage that will not reach 14.5 V plus or minus 0.5 V at the battery, a battery that keeps going flat, or a regulator housing and connectors that are discoloured and scorched all point to a failed unit. Check the stator AC output at the same time, as a faulty stator will destroy a new regulator.
Why does the aluminium housing matter?
