Red Aluminium MOSFET Regulator RMS022-106226 for Suzuki

Suzuki Boulevard C50 and C90, GSXR 600, 750 and 1000, 2001-2019

This is the RMSTATOR red machined aluminium MOSFET voltage regulator, part number RMS022-106226, for the Suzuki Boulevard C50 and C90 and the GSXR 600, 750 and 1000 from 2001 to 2019. It is a direct replacement with plug-and-play installation, built with higher quality components than the OEM part it supersedes, and finished in a billet aluminium housing that runs 33 per cent cooler than a standard cast regulator housing.

Heat is the reason regulators fail, and the GSXR family in particular is well known for cooking its regulator rectifier. This unit tackles that on two fronts: the machined heatsink sheds heat far more effectively than a cast case, and the MOSFET circuitry generates less heat in the first place. It also carries overheat protection, so if the unit is pushed too far it shuts down temporarily to cool rather than burning out permanently. The opposite connector for the harness side is included in the box, since the original connector is frequently melted or corroded and is often the real cause of a charging fault. The regulator uses two plugs, seven pins and seven wires with 300 mm leads, in a square 92 mm by 92 mm body 30 mm high, with 75 mm between the fixation hole centres. It provides a minimum charging voltage of 14.5 V plus or minus 0.5 V, a maximum charging current of 50 A / 500 W, open circuit voltage below 15 V and an operating range from -20 C to 85 C.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to modify the wiring or the mounting?

No. It is a direct replacement with plug-and-play installation, using two plugs and seven pins with 300 mm leads and 75 mm fixation hole spacing, so it goes back where the original came out.

What comes in the box?

The regulator unit and the opposite connector for the main harness side. The original harness connector is a common failure point, so replacing it at the same time is the sensible way to fit this part.

How can I tell the old regulator has failed?

Charging voltage that does not reach 14.5 V plus or minus 0.5 V at the battery, a battery that repeatedly goes flat, or melted and blackened connectors at the regulator are the usual symptoms. On the GSXR models in particular, check the harness connector carefully - heat damage there is very common.

What happens if this unit overheats?

It has overheat protection. Rather than burning out, it shuts down temporarily to let the aluminium heatsink shed heat, then resumes. Rated operating range is -20 C to 85 C.
