This is a brand new external ignition coil built as a direct replacement for the original unit fitted across a broad span of Can-Am, Lynx, Polaris, Sea-Doo, Ski-Doo and Victory machines. It is a twin output coil, feeding both the PTO and the MAG cylinder through their own high tension leads, which is the arrangement used on the parallel twin and V-twin engines these makes share. The coil is what converts the low voltage switching signal into the high tension charge that fires the plugs, so when it starts to break down the symptoms show up as a misfire on one cylinder, hard starting, or a machine that runs badly once it is hot.
Fitting is plug-and-play and direct fit. Reinstall your original OEM spark plug caps onto the new leads and the coil goes straight in using the standard mounting position - no cutting, splicing or adapting is required. Note that this is the updated replacement design, as used by OEM part number 278001546: the connection is integrated internally, so unlike the earlier version it no longer requires a separate external wire. Primary resistance is 0.9 ohms plus or minus 20 percent across terminals 1 and 2 and terminals 2 and 3, with the PTO lead at 7.0k ohms and the MAG lead at 7.4k ohms, so the unit can be verified with a multimeter. All products shipped are tested.

My original coil had a separate external wire. Is this the right part?
Yes. This is the updated replacement design used by OEM part number 278001546, in which that connection is integrated internally and a separate external wire is no longer required. If your original unit is the earlier type with the external wire, this coil supersedes it and the external wire is simply not needed once the new unit is fitted.
What is included?
The external ignition coil with both high tension leads. Spark plug caps are not supplied - the coil is designed for you to transfer the OEM caps across from your original unit, which is what keeps it a direct fit across this many makes and models. Unscrew each cap from the old leads and fit them to the new ones before installation.
How do I know the old coil has failed?
