Do I need to modify anything to fit this coil?
No. It is a plug-and-play, direct fit part. The bolt pattern is 58 mm centre to centre as per the original bracket and the 455 mm lead between coil and cap matches the factory routing, so the coil bolts on and connects up without alteration.
Is the spark plug cap supplied?
Yes. The coil comes complete with its spark plug cap already on the high tension lead. Nothing has to be taken off the old coil and re-used.
How do I know the coil is the problem and not the CDI or the stator?
Measure it. The primary to ground should read 0.4 ohms, the primary to spark plug cap 5.40 k ohms, and the coil resistance 0.6 ohms. An open circuit or a wildly different reading confirms a failed coil. If those readings are correct and the machine still has no spark, the fault lies further upstream in the stator, the CDI or the kill circuit.
