This is a brand new aftermarket external ignition coil for the 250 cc Ski-Doo Citation, Safari Citation and Tundra sleds built between 1985 and 1991. The ignition coil is the component that takes the low voltage feed from the ignition system and steps it up into the high tension spark the plug needs to fire. When a coil starts to break down internally the sled becomes hard to start, misfires under load, cuts out once it is hot, or simply refuses to run on one cylinder at all.
This unit is supplied as a coil body only. You must re-install your OEM spark plug cap or caps onto the new coil. Once your original caps are fitted, the part becomes a plug-and-play, direct fit replacement that needs no modification to the loom or to the mounting bracket. The distance between the fixation holes is 55 mm, matching the original mounting. Every unit is tested before it is shipped, and this coil cross references to part numbers 410912400 and 410916000.

How do I know my ignition coil has failed?
A failing coil usually shows up as hard starting, a weak or intermittent spark, misfiring under load, cutting out once the engine reaches operating temperature, or a cylinder that will not fire at all. Because the coil sits outside the engine it is exposed to vibration, damp and repeated heat cycling, which is what eventually breaks down the internal windings.
Why do I have to re-use my old spark plug caps?
This coil is supplied without caps by design, so you keep the caps that are already correct for your machine and its plug type. Unscrew them from the old leads and fit them to the new coil before installation. Ignition components carry high voltage, so have the work done by a qualified technician if you are not confident.
