External Ignition Coil - RM06022
Arctic Cat Jag 3000, Ski-Doo Formula 583, Lynx 6900 and Sea-Doo 720 GTI - 1976-2020
This is a brand new aftermarket external ignition coil for Arctic Cat, Ski-Doo, Lynx and Sea-Doo machines. The ignition coil is the transformer that turns the low-voltage pulse from the ignition system into the tens of thousands of volts needed to jump the spark plug gap. It is a hard-working part on a two-stroke: it fires continuously at high engine speeds, sits in a hot engine bay, and is exposed to vibration and moisture. Over time the insulation between the primary and secondary windings breaks down, and the coil begins to fail exactly when it is asked to work hardest - under load, at high revs, or once the engine is fully warm.
This unit is built with the highest grade lamination materials, and all products are tested before shipping. It is plug-and-play once you have reinstalled your OEM spark plug cap or caps onto the new leads - the coil is supplied without caps, so the original items are transferred across. The 740 mm wire length and 100 mm spacing between the fixation holes match the factory installation, so it bolts to the original mounting bracket and the leads reach their normal routing without stretching or re-clipping the loom.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is any modification needed to fit it?
No. The coil is plug-and-play once your OEM spark plug caps have been reinstalled on the new leads. The fixation holes are 100 mm apart to match the factory bracket and the 740 mm leads follow the original routing, so no drilling, cutting or loom modification is required.
What is included?
One brand new external ignition coil, tested before shipping. Spark plug caps are not supplied - remove the caps from your original coil leads and fit them to the new ones.
How do I know the old coil has failed?
Measure the resistance and compare it with the 14.6 ohm figure above - a reading far outside that, or an open circuit, confirms a failed winding. In use, a dying coil typically gives a weak or intermittent spark, a misfire that appears under load or at high revs, hard starting when hot, or a cylinder that drops out and then returns. Visible cracks or tracking marks on the coil body are also grounds for replacement.
Why do I have to reuse my own spark plug caps?
The coil is supplied with bare leads so that it covers the several different cap types used across these Arctic Cat, Ski-Doo, Lynx and Sea-Doo applications. Transferring your existing caps guarantees the correct resistance and the correct fit into your plug wells.
