External Ignition Coil for Arctic Cat, Honda, Suzuki and Yamaha
Arctic Cat 150, Honda ATC 250, Suzuki DR-Z 400, Yamaha TW 200 - 1973-2025 - OEM replacement 3KJ-82310-00-00 - Part number RM06007
This is a brand new external ignition coil covering an unusually wide range of Arctic Cat, Honda, Suzuki and Yamaha machines, from 1973 right through to current production. The ignition coil is the transformer that turns the low voltage pulse from the ignition system into the high tension charge needed to jump the spark plug gap. Because it is a wound component sitting in a hot, vibrating, weather-exposed position, it is one of the parts that quietly degrades with age - the insulation breaks down, the windings begin to leak, and the spark weakens long before it disappears altogether.
The coil is built using the highest grade of lamination materials, which is what governs how efficiently the magnetic field is carried through the core and therefore how strong and consistent the spark is. Fitting is straightforward: reinstall your original OEM spark plug cap onto the new coil, and from that point it is a plug-and-play, direct fit unit that mounts on the standard 55 mm fixation hole centres. Primary resistance is 0.9 ohms and secondary resistance is 4.9 Kohms, so the coil can be checked against those figures with a multimeter at any time. All units are tested before they are shipped.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will this fit without modification?
Yes, with one step. Move your original OEM spark plug cap across onto the new coil, and it is then a plug-and-play, direct fit replacement using the standard 55 mm mounting hole centres. No cutting or splicing of the loom is needed. Given how many models this coil covers, always check the number on your original unit against the cross reference table before ordering.
What is included?
The external ignition coil. A spark plug cap is not supplied, because this coil is designed for you to reinstall the OEM cap from your original unit - that is what keeps it a direct fit across so many different machines. Unscrew the cap from the old coil lead and fit it to the new one before installation.
How do I know the old coil has failed?
A coil rarely fails cleanly. Look for hard starting, a weak or intermittent spark, a misfire that worsens as the engine warms up, or an engine that dies when hot and restarts once cool. The most reliable check is a multimeter: this coil reads 0.9 ohms across the primary and 4.9 Kohms across the secondary, and a reading that is open circuit, or far away from those figures on your original unit, points to a coil that has broken down internally.
Why does one coil cover so many models?
Manufacturers reused the same basic external coil design across whole generations of small and mid-capacity machines, changing only the part number and sometimes the cap. Because this unit matches the electrical specification and the 55 mm mounting pattern used across those families, and because you carry over your own spark plug cap, a single coil replaces close to a hundred different original part numbers.
