Improved Capped Magneto Flywheel Rotor - Part RM11503
Ski-Doo and Lynx 1200 4-TEC Expedition, GSX, GTX, MX Z and MX ZX, 2009-2019
This is a heavy duty magneto flywheel rotor built to replace the troublesome original flywheel fitted to the Ski-Doo and Lynx 1200 4-TEC engine. The original units are known for shedding their magnets: the epoxy holding the magnet blocks to the rotor body breaks down with heat and vibration, a magnet lets go, and the resulting damage usually takes the stator with it. Rather than attempting a repair, this rotor replaces the assembly outright.
The improvement is in how the magnets are held. A higher temperature epoxy is used in place of the original compound, and the magnet ring is capped with steel so that the blocks are mechanically retained as well as bonded. The rotor measures 129 mm across the outside with a 116 mm internal diameter, a 30 mm internal and 38 mm external centre housing, and is 7 mm thick. It replaces the original part number 420892360 and its variants.
Key Features
- Improved capped design - the magnet ring is steel capped, not epoxy alone
- High temperature epoxy in place of the original compound
- Directly addresses the known magnet detachment problem on the 1200 4-TEC
- Heavy duty construction throughout
- Replacement rather than repair - no re-bonding of old magnets
- Direct replacement for original part 420892360
- Dispatched from the UK with a 12-month warranty

Frequently Asked Questions
Does it fit without modification?
Yes. The rotor is built to the original dimensions - 129 mm outside diameter, 116 mm inside, 30 mm and 38 mm centre housing, 7 mm thick - and replaces original part 420892360 directly. Check those measurements and the number on your existing rotor before ordering.
What is included?
The flywheel rotor itself. No further items are listed for this part, so the original centre bolt, woodruff key and any shims are reused from the assembly you remove.
How do I know my original flywheel has failed?
The classic sign on the 1200 4-TEC is a magnet that has moved or come away from the rotor body, often accompanied by a loss of charging, a hard-to-turn engine, metallic debris around the magneto housing or visible scoring on the stator. Any sign of loose or shifted magnets means the rotor must be replaced rather than repaired.
What makes this rotor different from the original?
Two things. The magnets are bonded with a higher temperature epoxy than the compound used originally, and the magnet ring is capped with steel so the blocks are mechanically retained as well as glued. Both changes target the exact failure mode that affects the OEM flywheel.
