Improved Magneto Flywheel Rotor - RM11500
Yamaha YFZ 350 Banshee - 1987-2006
This is a heavy-duty replacement magneto flywheel rotor for the Yamaha 350, built to cure a failure that is well known on these machines. The magnets inside the original flywheel are held in place with epoxy, and over years of heat cycling that epoxy deteriorates and lets the magnets move. Once they shift, charging and ignition output falls away and, in the worst cases, debris is thrown around inside the magneto cover. RMSTATOR position this rotor as the permanent answer to that problem: do not repair, replace like a pro.
The RM11500 is built with an improved high-temperature epoxy, high-grade steel capping over the magnets and precise balancing, so it is a lasting replacement rather than the temporary fix that re-glueing a tired original amounts to. The rotor measures 128 mm across the outside and 105 mm across the inside, with a centre housing of 34 mm outside and 21 mm inside diameter. Thickness is 12 mm at the exterior and 7 mm at the interior. It cross-references Yamaha part numbers 3GG-85550-01-00, 3GG-85550-00-00 and 2GU-85550-50-00.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will it fit my machine as it is?
It is listed for the Yamaha YFZ 350 Banshee, 1987-2006, and replaces Yamaha flywheels 3GG-85550-01-00, 3GG-85550-00-00 and 2GU-85550-50-00. Check the number cast or stamped on your original flywheel against that list, and compare the dimensions above, before ordering. A flywheel puller is needed to remove the original rotor.
What is included?
The listing covers the flywheel rotor itself. RMSTATOR do not list any additional hardware with this part, so retain the nut, washer and key from your original assembly.
How do I know my old flywheel has failed?
The classic signs are a charging or ignition output that has dropped off for no obvious reason with a good stator fitted, a rattle or knock from inside the magneto cover, visible cracking or crumbling of the epoxy between the magnets, or metallic debris and epoxy fragments found in the cover when it is removed. A magnet that can be moved by hand is a definite failure.
Why replace rather than re-glue the magnets?
Re-bonding loose magnets puts the same epoxy joint back into the same heat, and it usually lets go again. This rotor is manufactured from new with a higher temperature epoxy and steel capping over the magnets, and it is balanced as a complete unit, which a repaired original never is.
