This is a brand new stator crankcase cover gasket for the Aprilia 1000 cc V-twin range, covering the ETV 1000 Caponord, RST 1000 Futura, RSV 1000 in standard, S and Tuono forms, and the SL 1000 Falco. The gasket seals the joint between the crankcase and the stator cover on the left-hand side of the engine. It keeps engine oil in and road water, salt and grit out of the charging system, and it is destroyed the moment the cover is unbolted.
Any job that involves the stator, the pick-up coil or the flywheel means removing that cover, and the cover cannot be refitted reliably on the old gasket. A gasket that has been compressed once has already taken its permanent set, and reusing it is the usual reason an Aprilia starts weeping oil down the left-hand crankcase within a few hundred miles of a stator change. This replacement is cut to the original outline and bolt hole pattern so the cover pulls down flat and evenly without sealant. What is included?

How do I know the old gasket has failed?
Look for an oil film or drips along the lower edge of the stator cover, oil creeping down the left-hand side of the crankcase, or a gasket that has split, hardened or torn when the cover was last removed. On these Aprilia V-twins a weeping stator cover is often mistaken for a leaking sump, so clean the area and re-check after a ride to find the true source.
Can I reuse the original gasket if it looks intact?
It is not advisable. The gasket takes a permanent set once the cover has been torqued down, so even one that comes off in a single piece will not seal to the same standard a second time.
