This is a brand new generator stator (RMSTATOR part RM01073) built as a direct replacement for the original charging stator fitted to the Kawasaki KLF 400 Bayou from 1993 to 1999. In RMSTATOR's own words: "Brand new stator. Direct replacement to your original unit. Plug-and-play, direct fit, easy installation." The three-wire, single-plug layout and the 410 mm harness lead match the factory item, so the machine's wiring does not need to be cut or spliced.
It is wound with the highest grade copper on the highest grade lamination materials, and the windings are resistant to 200 degrees Celsius. RMSTATOR also include the opposite connector for the main harness side, noting that "we know these are often melted/corroded/defective" on machines of this age - a genuinely useful inclusion, because a burnt harness plug will destroy a new stator just as quickly as it destroyed the old one. How do I know my old stator has failed?
Measure between the three white wires with the engine off - each pair should read about 0.4 ohms, within plus or minus 20 percent - then check from any white wire to the stator body, which must read open circuit. A winding that reads open, dead short, or shows continuity to the body has failed. A battery that keeps going flat and charging voltage that never rises with engine speed are the usual symptoms.
Why is a second connector supplied?
RMSTATOR include the opposite connector for the main harness side because on these machines the original plug is often melted, corroded or otherwise defective. Replacing both halves at the same time means the new stator is not fed through a damaged connection.
