The core uses the highest grade lamination materials and the windings are the highest grade copper, rated to resist 200 degrees Celsius. Will this fit without modification?
Yes. It is a direct, plug-and-play replacement for the original BMW stator. It uses the original mounting points and the supplied connector mates with the factory loom, so no cutting, splicing or rewiring is required. What is included in the box?
The stator with its connector and rubber grommet already fitted, plus the opposite connector for the main harness side. Fitting that second connector at the same time removes a well known repeat-failure point on these machines.
How do I tell whether my old stator has failed?
Watch for a battery that will not stay charged, dim or flickering lights, and charging voltage that stays at battery level as revs rise. With a multimeter, resistance between any two of the three yellow wires should read approximately 0.4 ohms with a 20 percent tolerance. Open circuit, short circuit, a value well outside that range, or continuity between a yellow wire and the stator body all point to a failed stator.
Why is the grommet-to-plug wire so short on this part?
On this application the plug sits close to the engine case, so the lead from the grommet to the connector measures only 114 mm, with 180 mm from the stator to the grommet. That is correct for the original routing - the harness does not need to be extended or rerouted to fit it.
