This is a brand new aftermarket stator, supplied complete with its pick up pulsar coil, built as a direct replacement for the original charging unit fitted to the Can-Am DS 450 from 2008 to 2015. It replaces OEM part number 420296323. The unit is plug-and-play, a direct fit, and easy to install, so the loom and the engine cases stay as they are.
Construction uses the highest grade lamination materials and the highest grade copper windings, resistant to 200 degrees Celsius. The pick up pulsar coil, a connector and a rubber grommet are all included in the box. Note the two different lead lengths from the grommet to the plugs, 931 mm and 420 mm, which match the routing on the original harness. All products shipped are tested. Will this stator fit without modification?
Yes. It is a plug-and-play direct fit on the Can-Am DS 450 from 2008 to 2015 and needs no cutting, splicing or modification of the harness.
What is included?
The generator stator, the pick up pulsar coil, a connector and a rubber grommet.
How can I tell that my old stator has failed?
With the stator unplugged, measure Yellow to Yellow on the alternator side: it should read 0.4 ohms, plus or minus 20%. Blue to White on the pick up coil should read 250 ohms, plus or minus 20%. From any alternator wire to ground the meter should read O.L, an open circuit. Continuity to ground, or a reading far outside those figures, means the winding has broken down.
Why are the two output leads different lengths?
The DS 450 routes its alternator and pick up connections to two different points on the machine, so the leads leave the grommet at 931 mm and 420 mm to reach them without strain. Both are cut to the original routing, so no extension or shortening is needed.
