How can I tell whether my old stator has failed?
Check it with a multimeter. On this unit each Black alternator wire should read 0.9 ohms +/-20% to the others, White to Blue should read 9 ohms +/-20% and Blue to Green should read 300 ohms +/-20%. Any alternator wire measured to ground should show O.L. on the display. A winding that reads short to ground, open circuit, or well outside these figures has failed.
Why is a second connector supplied?
The connector on the main harness side is very often melted or corroded by the time a stator gives up, and a damaged plug there will overheat and take a new stator with it. The opposite connector is included so both halves of the joint can be renewed at the same time.
