Generator Stator for Kawasaki ZN 700 and GPz 750
Kawasaki ZN 700 LTD Shaft and GPz 750 / ZX 750, 1984-1985 - RMSTATOR RM01076
This is a brand new aftermarket generator stator for the Kawasaki ZN 700 LTD Shaft and the GPz 750 / ZX 750 of 1984 and 1985, replacing Kawasaki part number 21003-1062. It is a direct replacement for the original unit, so installation is plug-and-play and direct fit: it mounts in the standard generator cover using the standard fixings, and the three-wire output connects to the standard harness without any rewiring. On bikes of this age a failed stator is one of the most common causes of a machine that runs but slowly flattens its battery, and this is a straight like-for-like replacement rather than a rewind or repair.
The unit is built using the highest grade lamination materials and the highest grade copper windings, insulated to resist 200 degrees Celsius - a considerably better thermal specification than the original enamel and varnish would have carried when these bikes were new. RMSTATOR also include the opposite connector for the main harness side, because after four decades the original connector at that joint is very often melted, corroded or partly burnt, and leaving a degraded plug in circuit puts a new stator straight back into the conditions that killed the old one. The stator-side connector and rubber grommet are supplied as well, so the whole joint can be made up fresh. Every unit is tested before it is shipped.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does this fit without any modification?
Yes. It is a direct replacement for the original unit and installation is plug-and-play and direct fit. It uses the standard mounting points, the standard wiring route and the standard connections, so no cutting, splicing or drilling is required.
What is included in the box?
You receive the stator with its connector, the rubber grommet, and the opposite connector for the main harness side so both halves of the joint can be renewed at the same time.
How do I tell whether my old stator has failed?
Unplug the stator and measure between each pair of the three Yellow wires with a multimeter. All three readings should come out at 0.4 ohms +/-20% and should be closely matched. Then check each Yellow wire against the stator body or engine earth, which must read open circuit. A phase that reads open, a phase that reads much lower than the other two, or any continuity to earth all confirm a failed stator.
Why does the 200 degree winding rating matter on a bike this old?
Stator windings almost never fail because the copper breaks - they fail because the insulation around the copper degrades with heat and eventually allows one winding to short to the laminated core or to another phase. A winding rated to 200 degrees Celsius carries a larger thermal margin than the original specification, which is the single most useful improvement on a charging system that has already destroyed one stator.
