How do I tell whether my old stator has failed?
Disconnect the three-pin plug and measure between each pair of yellow wires. Each pair should read about 0.6 ohms, within roughly 20%. Measuring from any yellow wire to the stator body or engine earth should give O.L, an open line. An open circuit between a pair, or continuity to earth, confirms a failed winding. A battery that will not stay charged with the engine running is the usual symptom.
