A brand new aftermarket generator stator for the Honda VTR 1000 F of 1998 to 2005, built as a direct replacement for the original charging unit. It is plug-and-play and a direct fit, using the standard mounting points and the standard connector, so it goes straight in behind the generator cover with no rewiring, no splicing and no modification to the bike.
The V-twin Firestorm runs its alternator hard and hot, and a stator that has started to break down usually shows up first as a battery that will not hold charge on longer rides. How can I tell the old stator has failed?
With the plug disconnected, measure between each pair of the three yellow output wires. Each pair should read about 0.6 ohms, plus or minus 20 per cent, and the three readings should be close together. A pair that reads open circuit, or any continuity between a yellow wire and the stator body, means the winding has broken down.
Why is this stator 24 mm thick?
That is the original depth of the winding stack on the VTR 1000 F, sitting inside a 115 mm outer diameter with a 54 mm bore. The dimensions are matched to the original so the flywheel clears correctly and the generator cover seats without packing or spacing.
