This is a brand new aftermarket generator stator, built as a direct replacement for the original charging unit fitted to the Kawasaki ZN 1300 Voyager. It is a plug-and-play, direct fit part: it uses the standard mounting position and the standard loom connectors, so it goes on without cutting, splicing or any modification to the bike. The connector and the rubber grommet come already fitted to the harness tail.
The stator is built on the highest grade lamination materials and wound with the highest grade copper, with the winding insulation resistant to 200 degrees Celsius. How do I tell whether my old stator has failed?
With the engine off and the connector unplugged, measure between the black wires. The reading should be about 0.7 ohms, within plus or minus 20 per cent. An open circuit or a reading far outside that band means a winding has gone. Next check each black wire against the engine case: any continuity to earth means the winding insulation has broken down. A battery that will not hold charge while the regulator rectifier tests good is the usual symptom on this model.
Why is there a second connector in the box?
Main harness side connectors are often melted, corroded or defective and are a major cause of repeat electrical issues. On a bike of this age the plug has usually had thirty years of heat cycles, so replacing it at the same time as the stator saves stripping the machine down twice.
