This is a brand new aftermarket generator stator for the Yamaha Road Star S 1700 and Road Star Silverado S 1700 built between 2008 and 2014. It is a direct replacement for the original unit and is plug-and-play, mounting in the original position and connecting to the factory loom with no cutting, splicing or modification. Part number RMS010-100038.
The core uses the highest grade lamination materials and the windings are the highest grade copper, rated to resist 200 degrees Celsius - an important margin on a big air-cooled twin where stator heat is the usual cause of failure. Open circuit, short circuit, a reading well outside that figure, or continuity between a white wire and the stator body all indicate a failed stator.
