This is a brand new aftermarket generator stator for the Yamaha 1900 cruiser family - the Roadliner, the Stratoliner Midnight and the Raider S. It is a direct replacement for the original unit that sits behind the flywheel and feeds the regulator rectifier, so a machine that will not hold charge, drops its lights at idle or flattens a battery on a long run can be put back to standard output.

How can I tell my old stator has failed?
Look for a battery that will not stay charged, headlights that dim as the revs drop, and a bike that eventually stops because it has been running on the battery alone. On the bench, the three white wires should read about 0.5 ohms between any two of them, within 20 per cent. An open circuit between a pair, a badly unbalanced set of readings, or continuity from any white wire to the stator body means the winding has gone.
The lead on this part looks long - is that right?
Yes. The 1900 cruisers route the charging lead a long way forward, so this stator carries 100 mm of wire from the windings to the grommet and a further 900 mm from the grommet to the plug. That matches the original routing and lets the plug reach its factory position.
