Generator Stator with Pickup Coil for Yamaha V-Star 650

Yamaha V-Star 650 XVS650 Classic, Silverado and Custom 1998-2003 - OEM 4VR-81410-00-00

This is a brand new aftermarket generator stator for the Yamaha V-Star 650, supplied as a direct replacement to your original unit and covering the XVS650 Classic, Silverado and Custom. It is plug-and-play, a direct fit and easy to install, mounting in the standard position and connecting through the original plugs, so nothing about the loom needs cutting or splicing. Importantly the pick up pulsar coil is included on the assembly, so you are replacing the whole plate rather than transferring a thirty-year-old trigger coil onto a new stator.

The core uses the highest grade lamination materials and the windings are the highest grade copper, resistant to 200 degrees Celsius. On an air-cooled V-twin cruiser the alternator sits in a hot, oil-filled space and heat-aged insulation is what eventually kills the original unit, so that is the specification that matters most. A connector and a rubber grommet are supplied, and an extra connector for the main harness side is included too, because those are commonly found melted, corroded or defective and cause repeat electrical problems. All products shipped are tested. The part reference is RMS010-101522.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this fit without modification?

Yes. It is a plug-and-play, direct fit replacement using the original mounting points and the two original plugs, so no cutting or splicing of the harness is required. Confirm the OEM number 4VR-81410-00-00 against the unit you are removing before ordering.

What is included in the box?

The stator plate complete with its pick up pulsar coil already fitted, a connector, a rubber grommet, and an extra connector for the main harness side. Fitting both halves of the connection at once is the reliable repair when the harness plug has overheated.

How do I tell if my old stator has failed?

Measure resistance between each pair of the white alternator wires, which should read 0.4 ohms plus or minus 20 per cent, and between the black and white pickup coil wires, which should read 200 ohms plus or minus 20 per cent. Then check from any winding to the engine case, where there should be no continuity. Readings well outside those figures, an open circuit or a short to earth all confirm a failure. A battery that will not hold charge points at the alternator windings; an intermittent misfire or a no-spark condition points at the pickup coil.

Do I need to buy the pickup coil separately?

No. The pick up pulsar coil comes fitted to this assembly, so both the charging windings and the ignition trigger are renewed in one job rather than reusing an ageing coil on a new plate.
