Will it fit without modification?
Yes. It is a plug-and-play, direct fit replacement using the original mounting points, six wires, two plugs and six pins. No cutting or splicing of the loom is required.
Does the pickup coil come with it?
It does. The pick up pulsar coil is supplied fitted to the assembly, along with a connector and a rubber grommet, so nothing has to be salvaged from the old stator plate.
How can I tell the old stator has failed?
A battery that goes flat on a run, dim or flickering lights, or a bike that stops firing once the battery drops are the usual signs. Confirm with a multimeter: the alternator windings should read about 0.5 ohms plus or minus 20 per cent white to white, and the pickup about 240 ohms plus or minus 20 per cent from green/white to blue/yellow. Values far outside those, or any short from a winding to the core, mean the unit has failed.
How long is the wiring harness?
The main run measures 122 mm from the stator to the first grommet, 80 mm between grommets and 805 mm from grommet to plug, with a further 125 mm from the pickup coil to its grommet. That matches the standard routing on the XV250 chassis.
