Heavy Duty MOSFET Regulator Relocation Upgrade RMS020-103779 for Polaris

Polaris RZR 900 and 1000, ACE, Sportsman and Ranger, 2012-2025

This is a heavy duty MOSFET voltage rectifier regulator relocation upgrade, part number RMS020-103779, for Polaris RZR 900 and 1000, ACE, Sportsman and Ranger machines from 2012 to 2025. It replaces the OEM diode-style regulator and, thanks to the supplied relocation harness, lets you move the unit out of the driver-side rear wheel well and into the front underhood area, away from heat and away from the mud and debris thrown up by the rear wheel. All products ship tested.

MOSFET technology is the reason for the upgrade. The unit runs much cooler than the traditional shunt voltage regulator rectifier, puts less load on the stator so less work is done and less fuel is used, delivers steadier power to the battery, extends battery life and frees up engine power by optimising delivery - switching the stator coils on or off rather than dumping excess energy as heat. It also has built-in overheat protection: rather than burning out, the unit shuts itself off temporarily to cool down. Installation runs to six main steps: remove the original regulator and its bracket from the driver-side rear wheel well; disconnect the battery and stator connections; fit the relocation harness; route the harness forward through the driveshaft tunnel; mount the regulator in the front underhood area using the original bracket; and reassemble. Position the regulator away from heat sources and debris. Before fitting, check the AC output of the stator, replace any burned connectors, repair melted wiring and use hi-temp dielectric grease. Battery condition is important - no regulator can make up for a bad or weak battery, so always start with a fully charged battery.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to cut or splice any wiring?

No. The kit uses the supplied relocation harness with colour-coded black and grey connectors and reuses the original mounting bracket hardware. You remove the original regulator and bracket from the driver-side rear wheel well, disconnect the battery and stator, fit the harness, route it forward through the driveshaft tunnel, mount the regulator underhood at the front and reassemble.

What is included in the box?

The MOSFET regulator unit and the relocation harness with its black and grey colour-coded connectors. The original mounting bracket hardware is reused.

How do I know the old regulator has failed?

Charging voltage that will not reach 14.5 V plus or minus 0.5 V at the battery, a battery that keeps going flat, and burned or corroded connectors at the regulator are the usual signs. Check the stator AC output at the same time, and start any test with a fully charged battery - no regulator can make up for a bad or weak one.

Why relocate the regulator at all?

The standard position in the driver-side rear wheel well exposes the unit to heat and to mud and debris. The 2500 mm harness lets you mount it in the front underhood area, away from heat sources and debris, which suits the cooler-running MOSFET design and its 85 C upper operating limit.
