High Output Stator - Suzuki DR-Z250 & DR-Z400
2000-2011 | Pickup coil, connector and grommet included | Also fits Kawasaki KFX400
A high output replacement stator for the Suzuki DR-Z250 and DR-Z400, built with higher grade laminations and copper windings than the original to deliver more charging current - useful if you run heated grips, auxiliary lighting or a GPS on a bike whose standard output leaves little headroom.
DR-Z stators typically fail from heat and vibration: the windings darken and go open circuit, or insulation breaks down and shorts to the case. The result is a battery that will not hold charge, a bike that runs only until the battery is flat, or a weak spark. This unit ships complete with the pickup (pulsar) coil, connector and rubber grommet, so it is a straight swap for the original assembly.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I test whether my stator has failed?
With the engine off, measure resistance between each pair of stator legs - readings should be low and roughly equal, with no continuity to earth. Then run the engine and measure AC output across each pair; if it is well below your manual's figure, or one leg reads open or short to earth, the stator has gone.
Do I need to replace the regulator/rectifier at the same time?
Test it first. A shorted regulator can destroy a new stator within hours, so if the old stator failed with burnt windings, check the regulator before fitting this one - it is the single most common cause of repeat failures.
Is the pickup coil really included?
Yes - the pulsar/pickup coil is supplied fitted to the stator plate, along with the connector and rubber grommet, so nothing needs transferring from the old unit.
Will it fit a Kawasaki KFX400?
Yes. The KFX400 uses the DR-Z400 engine and the same stator, listed by Kawasaki as 21003-S007.
