This is a brand new aftermarket generator stator, built as a direct replacement for the original charging unit fitted to the Honda VF 700 Magna and VF 750 Magna from 1982 to 1984. It is a plug-and-play, direct fit part: it sits in the original position and connects to the existing main harness, so the loom does not need to be cut, spliced or modified to fit it.
The unit is wound with the highest grade copper on the highest grade lamination materials, and the windings are resistant to 200 degrees Celsius. A connector, a rubber grommet and an additional connector for the main harness side are supplied with the stator, and all products shipped are tested. This is RMSTATOR part number RM01462.

Does this stator fit without modifying the bike?

How do I tell whether my old stator has failed?
A failing stator normally shows up as a battery that will not hold its charge, or one that goes flat after a short ride, often with lights that dim badly at idle. You can test the old unit with a multimeter: the wire to wire resistance between the black wires should read about 0.4 ohms, plus or minus 20 per cent, and none of the three wires should show continuity to the stator body or to engine earth. An open circuit, a reading well outside that range, or a short to earth all point to a failed stator.
Why does this unit have a two pin plug when it has three wires?
That is how this particular stator is built: three wires leave the stator, and they terminate in a single plug carrying two pins, matching the arrangement used on these early VF Magna models. The additional main harness side connector is supplied so that the joint can be renewed at the same time if the original one on the bike is corroded.
