This is a brand new external ignition coil for a wide range of Arctic Cat snowmobiles built between 1987 and 2002, covering the 340 to 700 engine sizes across the Bearcat, Cheetah, Cougar, El Tigre, EXT, Jag, Wildcat, Z, ZL and ZR families. It is manufactured to replace the original external coil, the component that steps up the voltage from the ignition system and feeds the spark plug leads. When it breaks down the machine becomes hard to start, misfires or loses a cylinder entirely.
You must re-install your OEM spark plug cap(s) onto this coil. Once your original caps are in place, the part becomes a plug-and-play unit, a direct fit and easy to install. To transfer them, unscrew the spark plug caps from the old coil and screw them onto the new one; if your model does not use the yellow wire, remove it. The coil is built with the highest grade of lamination materials and all products shipped are tested. Primary coil resistance is 1.7 ohms and the fixing holes are 55 mm apart, matching the original mounting.

Does it fit without modification?
It is a direct fit with 55 mm fixing hole spacing, but you must re-install your OEM spark plug cap(s) onto the new coil. Once those are transferred it is a plug-and-play unit. If your model does not use the yellow wire, simply remove it.

How do I know the original coil has failed?
