This is a brand new ignition timing sensor, also known as a pickup or pulsar coil, for 2007-2017 Arctic Cat M 8000, XF 8000, ZR 8000, CFR, CF 800, Crossfire, XF 800, M8, F8 and Firecat F1000 snowmobiles. It is supplied for you to repair your existing stator rather than replace the whole assembly, which is often the more economical route on these machines - and this coil is frequently unavailable from the OEM manufacturer as a separate part. Part number RM00166 replaces Arctic Cat OEM 3007-318.
The pickup coil is the small sensor mounted next to the flywheel that tells the ignition system exactly where the crankshaft is. Each time the trigger on the flywheel passes it, the coil generates a pulse that the CDI or ECU uses to set ignition timing. When the coil breaks down the sled will typically refuse to start, cut out unpredictably, or run with erratic timing. This unit measures 24 mm long by 19 mm wide by 18 mm high, its bracket holes are 35 mm centre to centre, and it carries 400 mm of wire. Its brown/green to green/white wire-to-wire resistance is 200 ohms +/-20 percent, which is the figure to check your original against. All products are tested before shipping.

How do I test whether my old coil has failed?
Measure the resistance between the brown/green and green/white wires with a multimeter. A good coil reads 200 ohms plus or minus 20 percent. An open circuit, a short, or a reading well outside that band means the coil has failed. A sled that will not start with a good battery and good spark plugs, or that cuts out at random, is the typical symptom.
Do I need to replace the whole stator?
Not if only the pickup coil has failed. This part exists precisely so that the stator plate can be repaired rather than scrapped. Test the charging windings separately - if they are within spec, fitting this coil restores the machine at a fraction of the cost of a complete stator.
