This is a heavy-duty recall-type charging system upgrade kit that addresses the stator, flywheel and voltage regulator failures these Aprilia models are known for. The original design used extremely strong magnets in the flywheel, and the resulting heat output burned up or shorted the stator winding.
The fix is to replace the original flywheel with a Kokusan unit carrying lower strength magnets, which drops the stator output and the heat generation with it, and to fit a triple-tested heavy-duty stator at the same time. The kit is supplied complete with the crankcase cover gasket and the correct flywheel puller, so the job can be done in one go without hunting for the special tool.

Does it fit without modification?

What is included in the kit?

How do I tell the old stator has failed?
Measure between the yellow wires - this stator reads 0.3 ohms plus or minus 20 per cent - and check for continuity from any winding to earth. Burned or discoloured winding, a shorted reading or continuity to earth all confirm failure, and on these models it is usually the heat from the original flywheel that caused it.
Why does the flywheel need changing as well?
Because the flywheel magnets are the root cause. The original unit uses extremely strong magnets whose heat output burns up or shorts the stator winding, so fitting a stator on its own leaves the same conditions in place. The Kokusan flywheel supplied here uses lower strength magnets, dropping both the stator output and the heat it has to survive.
