This is a MOSFET voltage regulator rectifier, supplied as an upgrade over the traditional diode-style regulator fitted as standard. A MOSFET design drops less voltage internally, so it runs at a noticeably cooler temperature under the same load. It also carries overheat protection, which means that if it is pushed beyond its limits it shuts down rather than burning out and taking the charging circuit with it.
Rated at 50 A, or 500 W, it is a direct replacement for the original unit - plug-and-play installation, with an improved heat sink design and a higher grade of electrical components than the original equipment. The manufacturer states that all shipped products are tested. The opposite connector for the main harness side is included, so a melted or corroded harness plug can be renewed at the same time as the regulator.
