What is included?
You receive one brand new Mosfet regulator rectifier with wiring in three lengths - 220 mm, 800 mm and 875 mm. Mounting bolts are not included, so re-use the fixings from the original regulator.
How do I know the original regulator has failed?
With the engine running, charging voltage at the battery should be around 14.5 V +/- 0.5 V. A flat reading at battery voltage means no charge is reaching the battery, and anything climbing past 15 V means regulation has failed and the battery is being overcharged. Scorching or heat discolouration on the regulator body is a further sign.
What does the overheat protection actually do?
If the regulator reaches its thermal limit it shuts down temporarily rather than burning out. Once it cools it resumes normal operation. That is a meaningful difference from an OEM diode regulator, which simply fails when it overheats.
