Pickup / Pulsar Coil - 100 Ohms
Honda TRX 420 Rancher FA and FPA, 2009-2014 - RMSTATOR RM00147
This is a brand new pickup coil, also called a pulsar or pulse generator coil, from RMSTATOR, part number RM00147. It is supplied so that you can repair your existing stator rather than replace the whole assembly, which is often the only route available because this component is frequently unavailable on its own from the original manufacturer. It replaces Honda part numbers 31120-HP7-A00 and 31120-HP7-A01 and is specified for the Honda TRX 420 Rancher FA and FPA from 2009 to 2014.
The pickup coil is the small sensor mounted beside the flywheel that tells the ignition system where the crankshaft is. As the trigger on the flywheel sweeps past it, the coil generates a voltage pulse and the CDI or ECU uses that pulse to decide when to fire the spark. If the winding goes open circuit, drifts badly out of specification, or the leads chafe through, the ignition loses its timing reference completely - so the usual symptoms are no spark and a no start condition, an engine that cuts out and will not restart until it cools, or an intermittent misfire that comes and goes with engine temperature and vibration. This unit carries two wires, blue and green, 330 mm long, and reads 100 ohms plus or minus 20 percent between them. All products shipped are tested. All item pictures are accurate - if in doubt, do not hesitate to compare our item to your original part.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will it fit without modification?
Yes, on the listed models. The bracket centres are 35 mm and the leads are 330 mm long, matching the original. Compare the part against your old one and check the OEM number 31120-HP7-A00 or 31120-HP7-A01 before ordering - RMSTATOR specifically invite that comparison.
What is included?
The pickup / pulsar coil on its mounting bracket, with two 330 mm leads in blue and green. No additional hardware is listed for this part.
How do I know the old pickup coil has failed?
The most common sign is no spark and an engine that turns over but will not start. Others are cutting out under load or when hot with no restart until the engine cools, and an intermittent misfire. Measure the resistance between the blue and green wires with the connector unplugged - the specification is 100 ohms plus or minus 20 percent, so anything open circuit, shorted, or well outside that band indicates a failed coil.
Do I have to replace the whole stator?
No. This coil is sold specifically so that the stator can be repaired rather than replaced. If the stator windings themselves test correctly and only the pickup coil is out of specification, fitting this part restores the ignition trigger without the cost of a complete stator assembly.
