RM00157 is a brand new 425 ohm pickup coil for the stator fitted to the Suzuki LT 160 E QuadRunner and LT-F 160 QuadRunner built between 1989 and 1999. It is a repair component rather than a complete stator: RMSTATOR supply the pickup, or pulsar, coil on its own so that a stator whose charging windings are still healthy can be brought back into service instead of being replaced entirely. That matters on a machine of this age, because the complete assembly is frequently no longer available from the original manufacturer at any price.
The pickup coil is the small trigger winding that tells the ignition when to fire. When it goes high-resistance or open circuit the symptoms are a no-spark condition, an engine that cranks but will not start, or a misfire that appears once everything is hot and disappears again when the machine has cooled. Because it is a low-current winding it can read within specification cold and still fail under heat, so testing it against the published figure is the reliable way to decide. Every unit is tested before it is shipped.

Is this a plug-in part or does it need wiring in?
This is a stator repair component, not a plug-and-play assembly. The coil's wires are soldered to the existing OEM wiring and the joints insulated with heat shrink. Disconnect the battery before starting work, and set the air gap between the coil and the rotor to a minimum of 0.010 in once the coil is bolted down.
What do I receive?
The brand new pickup / pulsar coil itself, with its 380 mm of wire and its mounting bracket at 30 mm centre to centre, ready to be fitted to your existing stator plate.
How do I know my old pickup coil has failed?
Measure across the blue and green wires with a multimeter. A healthy coil reads 425 ohms within 20 per cent. An open circuit, a reading far outside that band, or continuity from either wire to the coil body or stator plate all indicate a failed pickup coil.
Why buy just the coil instead of a whole stator?
On these older QuadRunners the complete assembly is often unavailable from the OEM manufacturer. If the charging windings on your stator still test correctly and only the trigger coil has failed, fitting this 425 ohm pickup repairs the unit you already have.
