A brand new pick-up pulsar coil, also known as the crankshaft position sensor, for Yamaha Apex 1000 and X-TX snowmobiles and for the XVS Stryker, V Star and Tourer 1300 motorcycles. This is the sensor that tells the ignition system exactly where the crankshaft is, so the CDI or ECU can fire the coils at the right moment. When it drifts out of specification or fails outright, the engine typically throws Yamaha diagnostic code 12 for a faulty crankshaft position sensor.
Yamaha normally supplies this sensor only as part of a complete stator assembly, which is a very expensive way to fix a single failed coil. This part lets you replace just the pick-up coil instead, at a fraction of the cost of the dealer assembly, and it is frequently available here when the OEM part is not. Every unit is tested before it leaves us and works alongside the rest of your original electrical components.

What do I actually receive?
You receive the pick-up pulsar coil itself with its 900 mm lead. It is a repair part for your existing stator assembly, so no flywheel, stator plate or gasket is supplied.
How do I know my old pick-up coil has failed?
The usual symptom is Yamaha diagnostic code 12, reported as a fault in the crankshaft position sensor, along with no spark, an intermittent misfire or a refusal to start. Measure the resistance between the black and grey wires with the plug disconnected: a healthy coil reads about 270 ohms, within 20 per cent either way. An open circuit or a badly out-of-range reading confirms the coil.
Do I have to buy a whole stator to fix code 12?
No. That is the point of this part. Yamaha normally only lists the sensor as part of a complete stator assembly, but the failure is almost always the pick-up coil alone, and this replaces just that coil.
