A brand new aftermarket pickup pulsar coil supplied under RMSTATOR part number RM00135, made as a stator repair part for the Honda TRX420, TRX450 and TRX500 quads built between 2004 and 2013. The pulsar coil is the small sensor mounted alongside the flywheel that reads the timing trigger and tells the ignition system precisely when to fire. When it fails the machine typically will not start, loses spark once it warms through, or runs with timing that wanders under load.
RMSTATOR supply this coil on its own so a stator assembly can be repaired rather than replaced, which matters on these models because the pulsar coil is often unavailable separately from the original manufacturer. How do I know my old pulsar coil has failed?
Measure the resistance across the two coil wires with a multimeter. A healthy unit reads about 250 ohms, within plus or minus 20 per cent. An open circuit, a dead short, or a reading well outside that band indicates the coil has failed. Common symptoms are no spark at all, a machine that cranks but will not fire, and cutting out once the engine is hot.
Can I repair the stator with this rather than replacing it?
Yes, that is what this part is for. RMSTATOR sell the pulsar coil separately so the assembly can be rebuilt instead of buying a complete stator, which is often the only route available because Honda frequently do not supply the coil on its own.
