Regulator Rectifier for Aprilia 1000 Models
ETV Caponord, RST Futura, RSV R Mille and Tuono 1000 - 1998-2010
A brand new direct OEM replacement regulator rectifier, part number RM30319, for the Aprilia ETV Caponord, RST Futura, RSV R Mille and Tuono 1000 built between 1998 and 2010. High quality material at half the price of the original equipment part, supplied with direct fitment, plug and play installation and no assembly required.
The regulator rectifier sits between the stator and the battery and does two things at once. It rectifies the alternating current the stator produces into direct current, and it regulates that output so the battery receives a controlled charge instead of everything the alternator can make. On these Aprilia V-twins a failing unit shows up either as a bike that will not hold charge and dies on a long run, or as an overcharge that boils the battery and destroys bulbs. This replacement uses a higher grade of electrical components than the original and has improved heat sink capability, which matters because heat is what kills these units in the first place. The connector for the main harness side is supplied with it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does it need modification to fit?
No. On the models listed above this is a direct fitment part - plug and play, with no assembly required. Check the 75 mm centre to centre fixation hole spacing and the 103 mm by 80 mm by 31 mm body against the unit you are replacing.
What is included?
The regulator rectifier itself plus the opposite connector for the main harness side. The unit has two plugs, seven pins and seven wires, with a 166 mm wire length.
How do I tell whether my old unit has failed?
Measure battery voltage with the engine running and warm. Around 14 to 14.5 volts is healthy on these bikes. A reading that never rises above resting battery voltage means the unit is not charging, and a reading climbing past 15 volts means it has lost regulation and is overcharging. Check the stator windings and the earth connections at the same time, because a failed stator will kill a new regulator just as quickly.
Why does this part fail so often on the Aprilia 1000 V-twins?
Heat and connector corrosion. The regulator disposes of surplus charging energy thermally, so anything that restricts airflow around it, or any resistance in the connectors and earths, drives its running temperature up. This replacement has improved heat sink capability and is rated to work between -20 C and 85 C, but it still pays to clean the connectors and make sure the unit sits where it gets airflow.
