This is a brand new voltage regulator rectifier supplied as a direct replacement for the original AC regulator fitted across the Arctic Cat Bearcat, Jag, Pantera, Panther, Z, ZL and Triple Touring ranges in 340, 440, 550, 580, 600 and 800 capacities, covering the 1998 to 2008 model years. It is a plug-and-play, direct fit part, so it mounts in the original position and connects through the original single three-pin plug with no cutting or splicing of the loom.
Despite its compact 41 mm by 41 mm footprint, this regulator is rated to a maximum charging current of 50 A or 500 W, so it handles the load of a fully accessorised sled including heated grips and auxiliary lighting. What is included?
One AC voltage regulator rectifier with three wires of 55 mm and its fitted three-pin connector. Fixings are not supplied as the original mounting hardware is reused.
How do I tell whether my old regulator has failed?
With the engine running, a healthy system should reach a minimum charging voltage of 14.5 V plus or minus 0.5 V and hold the open circuit voltage under 15 V. Bulbs that blow repeatedly, a battery that boils or a battery that never charges are the usual signs that the regulator is no longer controlling output.
Is 50 A enough for a sled with heated grips and extra lights?
The unit is rated to a maximum charging current of 50 A or 500 W, which is the highest rating in this regulator family, so it is well suited to machines carrying additional electrical load. The limiting factor remains the output of your stator, not the regulator.
