Regulator Rectifier for BMW Airhead & Moto Guzzi Twins
BMW R50, R60, R65, R75, R80, R90, R100 and Moto Guzzi V7 750, 850, LeMans, G5 1000, SP, V50, V75 - 1970-2001 - part number RMS020-102772
This is a brand new aftermarket regulator rectifier built as a direct replacement for the original unit fitted to BMW airhead boxers and Moto Guzzi twins between 1970 and 2001. It is a plug-and-play, direct fit part designed to mount and wire exactly like the original, so it goes straight in without modification to the loom or the mounting points.
The unit is supplied with the opposite connector for the main harness side. On machines of this age that connector is very often melted, corroded or otherwise defective, and it is a major cause of repetitive electrical faults, so replacing both halves together is worth the few extra minutes. All units are tested before shipment. The regulator carries eight wires across six plugs, with long 1030 mm, 1450 mm and 1530 mm tails for routing on these frames, and the fixation holes are 60 mm centre to centre.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does this need any modification to fit?
No. It is a direct replacement for the original unit - plug-and-play, direct fit and easy to install. The fixation holes are 60 mm centre to centre, matching the original mounting.
What is included?
The regulator rectifier unit and the opposite connector for the main harness side, so you can renew both halves of the connection in one go.
How do I know the old regulator has failed?
The charging system should hold at least 14.5 V +/- 0.5 V at the battery with the engine running. A battery that goes flat or boils, lights that dim or surge with revs, or a burnt regulator body or melted connector all point to a failed unit.
Which wire goes where?
The eight wires are colour coded: three yellow to the stator, black to D-, brown to DF, red to battery positive, green to battery negative and orange to ignition positive. Match them to your machine's wiring diagram before connecting.
