Voltage Regulator RMS020-102842 for Kubota RTV500 and John Deere Tractors

Kubota UTV RTV500 2008-2017 and John Deere 2210, 2305, 2320, 2520, 4010, 4100, 4110 and 4115

This is a brand new aftermarket voltage regulator rectifier, part number RMS020-102842, built as a direct replacement for the original unit fitted to the Kubota UTV RTV500 from 2008 to 2017 and to John Deere compact tractors including the 2210, 2305, 2320, 2520, 4010, 4100, 4110 and 4115. It is plug-and-play and a direct fit, so no assembly is required. The unit uses a higher grade of electric components than the original and the quality exceeds the OEM equipment it replaces. All products shipped are tested.

The kit also includes an additional connector for the main harness side. These original connectors are often melted, corroded or defective and are a major cause of repeated electrical problems, so replacing the harness plug at the same time as the regulator is worth doing. The unit is a compact six-pin, six-wire design in a body 68 mm wide by 83 mm long by 28 mm high, with 60 mm between the fixation hole centres and 70 mm leads. Wiring is clearly colour coded: the two blue wires are the stator AC input, the red wire is battery positive, the black wire is battery negative, the yellow wire is the ignition switch positive feed and the green wire drives the low charge indicator light. Electrically it gives a minimum charging voltage of 14.5 V plus or minus 0.5 V, handles 25 A / 300 W maximum charging current, holds open circuit voltage below 15 V and works from -20 C to 85 C. Before installation, verify the stator AC output, replace any burned or corroded connectors on the stator and regulator, repair melted wiring and apply high-temperature dielectric grease to all connectors. Disconnect the battery before servicing, and have the work carried out by a qualified technician to avoid malfunction.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this need any modification to fit?

No. It is a plug-and-play, direct fit replacement with the same single six-pin plug and 60 mm fixation hole spacing as the original, and no assembly is required. Fitting is best carried out by a qualified technician.

What is included in the box?

The voltage regulator rectifier unit plus the opposite connector for the main harness side. The original harness connector is often melted or corroded, which is a major cause of repeat electrical faults, so the mating plug is supplied so you can renew both sides.

How do I tell that the old regulator has failed?

A working system should reach a minimum of 14.5 V plus or minus 0.5 V at the battery. If the low charge indicator light stays on, the battery keeps going flat, or the connectors at the regulator are burned or corroded, the unit has most likely failed. Verify the stator AC output before fitting a new regulator.

What do the coloured wires connect to?

The two blue wires take the AC input from the stator, the red wire is battery positive, the black wire is battery negative, the yellow wire is the ignition switch positive feed and the green wire feeds the low charge indicator light.
