Voltage Regulator Rectifier RM30913 for Polaris 500, 600, 700 and 550 IQ / Shift

Polaris 500 / 600 / 700 Classic, Edge, SP and XC and 550 IQ / Shift, 2001-2016 - electric start models only

This is a brand new aftermarket voltage regulator rectifier, built as a direct replacement for the original unit fitted to Polaris 500, 600 and 700 Classic, Edge, SP and XC models and to the 550 IQ and Shift, covering model years 2001 to 2016. The regulator rectifier is the component that converts the alternating current produced by the stator into the direct current your battery and electrical system actually need, and then holds that output at a safe, stable level so the battery is charged properly without being cooked. When it fails, everything downstream of it suffers - flat or boiling batteries, dim or flickering lights, blown bulbs, hard starting and intermittent electrical faults that come and go with engine speed. Please note that this part fits electric start models only.

RM30913 is a plug-and-play, direct fit part, so no assembly, no cutting and no rewiring are required - the existing three-wire plug and the original mounting holes are used exactly as they are. It is built with a higher grade of electrical components than the original, and uses an improved heat sink for better thermal performance and improved charging capability. Heat is what kills most regulator rectifiers, so the larger heat sink area matters in real use, particularly on machines that spend time at low speed or idle where there is less airflow over the unit. The quality exceeds the OEM equipment, and every unit shipped is tested before it leaves us.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this fit without modifying my wiring?

Yes. RM30913 is a plug-and-play, direct fit replacement. It uses a single plug with 3 pins and 3 wires of 140 mm, and the two fixation holes are 68 mm centre to centre, matching the original mounting. No assembly, cutting or splicing is required. It fits electric start models only.

What is included?

You receive one brand new voltage regulator rectifier, part number RM30913, with its integrated wiring and plug already fitted. Every unit is tested before shipping.

How do I know my old regulator rectifier has failed?

The usual signs are a battery that will not stay charged, or the opposite - a battery that is overcharged, hot or losing electrolyte. Lights that flicker or brighten sharply with engine speed, repeated blown bulbs and intermittent electrical faults all point the same way. A healthy charging system with this unit should show a minimum charging voltage of 14.5 V +/- 0.5 V at the battery, with open circuit voltage below 15 V. Readings well above or well below that range indicate the regulator is no longer controlling output.

Can it handle the same load as the original unit?

Yes. It is rated to a maximum charging current of 25 A / 300 W and is designed to operate between -20 C and 85 C, so it copes with cold starts and with sustained running. The improved heat sink gives it better thermal headroom than the original, which is the main reason these units fail.
