This is a brand new voltage regulator rectifier for Polaris utility quads built between 1998 and 2004, covering the Magnum 325, Ranger 500, Sportsman 400, Xpedition 325 and Xplorer 400. It is a direct replacement to your original unit: plug-and-play, direct fit, easy installation, no assembly required.
The regulator rectifier takes the alternating current from the stator, rectifies it into direct current and holds the charging voltage steady so the battery charges properly and the electrical system is not exposed to over-voltage. This unit is built with a higher grade of electric components than the original and has an improved heat sink and improved charging capability, so its quality exceeds the OEM equipment. Every unit is tested before shipment. Please note that Polaris machines of this period were fitted with either a three-wire or a five-wire regulator rectifier - this part is the five-wire version, so check your existing unit before ordering.

How do I tell whether I need the three-wire or the five-wire version?
Count the wires leaving your existing regulator. Polaris models of this era were fitted with either a three-wire or a five-wire regulator rectifier. This part is the five-wire type; if your machine has the three-wire version you need RM30T06 instead.

How do I know my old regulator has failed?
The usual signs are a battery that will not hold charge, charging voltage at the battery terminals that stays low or rises above 15 V with the engine running, a battery that boils or swells, and bulbs that blow repeatedly. Measure across the battery with the engine running and compare with the 14.5 V +/- 0.5 V figure in the specification table.
