This is a brand new charging voltage regulator rectifier, made as a direct replacement for the original unit fitted to electric start Ski-Doo Skandic, GSX and GTX 550 models and to Lynx 6900 and ST 600 machines from 2002 to 2011. Its job is to take the alternating current the stator generates and rectify it into direct current, then regulate that output so the battery receives a controlled charge instead of raw, unregulated voltage. Get this wrong and the results are obvious - a battery that is either permanently flat or boiling and swollen, headlights that surge with engine speed, repeatedly blown bulbs and electrical gremlins that appear only once the engine is running.
RM30914 is a plug-and-play, direct fit part. It uses the original four-pin plug and mounting holes, so no assembly, cutting or rewiring is needed. It is built with a higher grade of electrical components than the original and the quality exceeds the OEM equipment, and every unit is tested before it is shipped. If your machine has a manual starter you need RM30373, and if you are replacing the headlights regulator you need RM30912. How do I know the old regulator has failed?
Typical symptoms are a battery that will not hold charge or one that is being overcharged and running hot, lights that vary in brightness with engine revs, and bulbs that keep failing. With a healthy unit you should see a minimum charging voltage of 14.5 V +/- 0.5 V, with open circuit voltage below 15 V. Anything well outside that band suggests the regulator is no longer controlling the stator output.
