This is a brand new voltage regulator rectifier rated at 50 A, or 500 W, which makes it one of the higher output units in the range. It rectifies the alternating current produced by the stator into direct current and regulates the result so the battery and the electrical system see a controlled 14.5 V rather than raw alternator output. The larger 80 mm by 115 mm body and 80 mm mounting spacing reflect the heavier duty rating.
The part is a direct replacement for the original unit - plug-and-play, direct fit, easy installation. It is built with higher grade electrical components and an improved heat sink, and every unit is tested before shipping. Please note one exception from the manufacturer: the 1996 and early 1997 454 Bearcat 4x4 uses a different plug and will need the harness modified before this regulator can be fitted.

What do I receive?

How do I tell my old unit has failed?
With the engine running, check the voltage at the battery terminals. This regulator holds around 14.5 V. If the figure never climbs above resting battery voltage the unit is not charging; if it goes past 15 V the unit is not regulating and the battery will be damaged.
Is 50 A more than my machine needs?
The 50 A / 500 W rating is a ceiling, not a fixed output. The regulator only passes what the charging system and the loads on it actually draw, so the extra headroom simply means the unit runs cooler and with more margin than a lower rated part.
